How to Assemble Your Golf Simulator Enclosure

Assemble the Frame

The first procedure for building a DIY golf simulator enclosure is constructing the product's frame. Begin by sorting out your 1" EMT pipes and the steel fittings. The EMT pipes will provide a structural framework for your enclosure. Start by joining the pipes with the steel connectors as required and ensure that the pipes are well fitted in the connectors. Turn the eyebolts of the fittings clockwise to fix the pipes. If you want the screws to be flatter, feel free to switch out the eyebolts with flat bolts.

Hang the Enclosure Sides

The next thing is to add the black sides and top of the home golf simulator, which can be done by hanging it on the frame that has been constructed. Place the top cover gently over the roof of the frame and arrange the cover as perfectly as possible to cover the frame uniformly on all sides attaching the metal eyelets/grommets to the poles with the ball bungees on all four sides. Start with the outside corners, then attach the interior grommets to the poles. Then fit the sides the same way. 

Attach the Impact Screen

Gently open up the impact screen without allowing it to come in contact with the ground due to the risks of dust or even damage. Look for the tag that indicates the front of the screen. Place the top edge of the screen on the frame.  Attach the top corners of the screen to the back part of the frame with ball bungees, following with the other corners, and then the rest of the sides. 

Position the Frame

Put the back of the frame at least 1 foot away from the wall. For optimal durability of your golf impact screen, it's crucial to maintain an adequate distance between the screen and any behind-the-screen materials like memory foam or weighted blankets. The unique design of the screen is engineered to evenly disperse the force of the golf ball across its entire surface - a feature that could be compromised if any materials are too close. If memory foam, weighted blankets or other elements are touching or too near to the screen, it will lead to concentrated impact at the point of the golf ball's strike, which will accelerate screen wear and tear.

*Make sure that the grommets of the impact screen are covered by foam to protect them from stray golf balls. Triangular foam gutter lengths work well for the edges of the screen. They can be found economically at Home Depot.

How much does a golf simulator cost?

We're not trying to be cagey with this answer but.... IT DEPENDS! There are about 10 different components that make up the golf simulator which will dictate your overall cost. The biggest two things that will determine the cost of your simulator are 1. Which launch monitor you choose and 2. Whether you go with a custom built-in screen or an enclosure.

How much space do I need for a simulator? Will it fit in my house?

To set up a golf simulator, you need to consider the height, width, and depth of the room.

  • Ceiling Height: Ideally, you need at least 9 to 10 feet of ceiling height to swing a golf club comfortably, especially for taller players or those with a high swing. A height of 10 feet is generally recommended for maximum flexibility.

  • Room Width: For the width, 12 feet is a common recommendation, allowing enough space for both right- and left-handed golfers to swing comfortably without hitting the walls.

  • Room Depth: The room should be at least 15 feet deep, which allows space for the golfer to stand, the screen, and the projector or monitor setup. This distance also provides enough room for the ball to travel and the simulator to capture accurate data.

Honestly, nothing besides the aesthetic and price. The two types of launch monitors perform the same and generally contain the same golf simulator software. It comes down to which aesthetic you prefer. If you're a commercial business/air b n b/ condo builder, you'll probably opt for an overhead as it is fixed in the ceiling and cannot be tampered with. If you're a homeowner, it really doesn't matter.
